Anastasia stood alone in her new room. She looked in the mirror at her track pants and hoodie. Vanessa had agreed to give her some of her old clothes, considering Anastasia had about 3 presentable outfits, and one of them was a uniform for a pizza place.

She brushed her hair behind her ears and put it in a ponytail. She wasn’t used to trying to dress to impress someone. She eyed the remnants of a few palettes of makeup and considered it. She decided against it, considering the main person she wanted to impress was blind. She figured it was probably a good thing that she decided against the makeup, as she hadn’t messed with it in years.

Her heart was racing as she walked down the hallway towards the track. She thought about where she was just a few days ago. It was amazing the difference that a few days could bring. She walked down the hall of the mansion too excited to stop and appreciate the decor.

She swung open the door and stepped into the gym. She was dumbfounded. She looked around and saw a huge indoor track, with loads of exercise equipment around it. It looked like something from her school, but even nicer because everything was new and worked.

She looked around the room and saw Paul, Jude, and Vanessa standing together on the track. Her heart raced even more as she walked towards the superheroes of Atlanta. Sure she had already met them, but this was way different.

“Hey! How’s the room?” Paul called to her as she approached.

“It’s way better than any room I’ve ever slept in! This place is crazy!” Anastasia couldn’t help but look around at the room.

“Hey, wasn’t that exactly what you said, Jude?” Paul elbowed him.

“Pretty much.” He laughed for a moment. “Alright then, Anastasia, we think you have something along the lines of cold based powers. We’ve come up with a few tests to see what you can do. Are you ready?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be.” Anastasia took a deep breath.

“Alright.” Vanessa stepped slightly away from Jude, she was holding a pen and clipboard. “So, we’re going to start nice and easy. Try to make the room colder.”

“Okay. Colder, no problem.” Anastasia sighed and began to concentrate. She began to focus on the coldest she had ever been. She happened to be homeless during a blizzard, and almost died from exposure. She recalled to bone chilling cold, and how she couldn’t even open her eyes.

“It’s alright if it takes you a little-” Vanessa stopped talking, as the room got noticeably colder. Anastasia continued to take it further, it began to feel like winter. “Alright, Anastasia that’s enough.”

Anastasia thought Vanessa sounded a little irritated, and wondered what was with her. She stopped making the room colder, but the room still remained frigid.

Jude looked down at a thermometer in his hand. “Wow, you hit negatives!” He held it up closer to his face. “Something like negative ten.”

“Alright, well my outfits not meant for negatives, so can we bring it back to room temp?” She looked to Anastasia.

Anastasia panicked for a moment. She tried to raise the temperature, but it didn’t seem to be working.

“It’s alright, I’ve got it.” Jude began to glow, and the room began to warm up. It felt like Anastasia was standing in front of a stove in a freezing kitchen. “Okay, very good. It seems you’re a quick learner.”

“Yeah, you got it even quicker than Vanessa.” Paul patted Vanessa on the shoulder and chuckled, missing the death glare she was giving him.

“Thanks!” Anastasia was ecstatic. “So, what next?”
